What Does “Import State” Mean in Bloomz?
If you're managing your classrooms or school community in Bloomz and come across the tag “Imported,” you might wonder what that actually means. Don’t worry—we’re here to make it simple!
🌱 What is “Imported”?
When a parent, student, or staff member is brought into Bloomz—either:
- through an integration tool like Clever or PowerSchool
- or manually added by an admin or teacher,
they don’t automatically become active in the platform. Instead, if invitations are turned off in your settings (which is common when you're prepping things behind the scenes), those users will stay in what we call an “Imported State.”
🚧 What Does That Actually Mean?
When someone is in Import State, here’s what’s happening:
- Their information is in the system, but it’s not yet visible or active.
- They have not been invited to join their class or group on Bloomz.
- Their access and communication are suppressed until they are invited.
This is intentional—it gives schools control over when and how members are invited, especially during onboarding phases.
You can read more about controlling invitations and understanding the yellow bar notification here on our Status Page.
💡 How Do I Move Someone Out of Import State to Invited State?
There are two ways to activate members who are currently in Import State:
Individually Invite Them- Go to the school (if you are working from a school wide subscription), class or group.
- Find the member under “Imported”
- Select the member
- Then select the "Send Activation Notifications"
🧠 Why This Matters
Knowing about the Import State helps you:
- Understand why a parent or teacher hasn’t received their invite yet
- Prevent premature access before you’re ready
- Stay in control of your school or class onboarding process
So next time you see a name listed as "Imported," you’ll know—it’s just waiting for that official invite!
